IS THERE MUCH VARIATION WITH THE PIECES?

A little. There may be some slight variation in the size and glaze finish of the work. We cull outlier pieces that do not meet our standards, while also embracing the ‘wabi-sabi’ aesthetic of imperfection that give these pieces their personality.

WHAT ABOUT THE FINISHES?

All our glazes are high-fired (cone 10), and food safe.

The black and speckled glaze finishes we offer are tough and care-free. The bone and white glazes— oh, for as much as we love that silky sheen— they are more temperamental in the kiln, and may show minor cutlery marks with use. Because of this some plates are currently unavailable in bone and white while we work on those glazes.

IS IT FRAGILE?

Our floors are concrete, so anything we drop is doomed. Having said that, for as thin and light as these pieces are— they are surprisingly durable. Plates and bowls nest. Cups can stack 2-high no problemo. The glazes are durable and non-fading. But like anything, daily use will show the subtle marks of time. Just like people.

The intention has always been that this tableware be a functional part of our everyday lives— not relegated to a dusty upper shelf. We cannot guarantee against breakage but we do aim to offer our work at a friendly price so that the occasional accident doesn’t also break the bank.

CAN I PUT IT IN THE DISHWASHER?

Mostly-yes. We’ve noted in the descriptions those few items that should not be put in the DW. But whether you’re into that or hand washing, treating it as you would your everyday glassware is a good rule of thumb.

WILL YOU MAKE CUSTOM PIECES?

We are always exploring new products, and appreciate any feedback you may have. Developing a new shape goes through a lot of prototyping so it isn’t practical to make ‘just a few’. But it never hurts to ask, so if you have a project in mind give us a shout.
